About us
Damnably is a UK based Independent Record Label, Management, Promotion and Music Publishing company run by George Gargan and Janice Li.
George grew up obsessed with music, played in bands and began Damnably as a gig promoter in 2006. Damnably Records was established in 2009 when George booked Shonen Knife’s first UK tour in 16 years, and subsequently became the band’s European record label.
Janice has been a huge fan of Shonen Knife since her teen years, came on board as a tour manager for the band’s tour in 2009, and subsequently became integral to the running of Damnably as it’s activities expanded.
The label was formed on a shoestring budget, incorporating a DIY approach which still remains an integral part of our ethos today.
Since then, we’ve grown into other areas of the music business, booking tours across Europe and establishing ourselves as a music publisher since 2014.
Damnably’s love of the quirky and unusual is reflected in our roster of artists who all share incredible guitar and compositional skills.

In 2024, Damnably celebrates it’s 18th birthday, remaining wholly independent and continually seeking out quality new music from all corners of the world.
