This is the debut EP and LP from Daegu trio 도그스타 / Dogstar. The band features siblings Sun Mi and Jun Hung Ryu with Matthew Ormita drumming on the recorded songs. Andrew Blad replaced Matthew after he moved back to the US.

Sunmi is a classical pianist and it’s her discordant angular guitar skills and scary minimal vocals that really make this so interesting. Made up of recordings from their <hello, Cranky dear..> EP, recorded in 2011 (in 5 hours) and  <Ghetto Bounce On> LP from 2013. The band self-released these on CD and remain largely unknown outside of Korea, or even  in their home city Daegu, Korea’s third largest city.

Heavy, intricate, abrasive post-punk/indie rock, it’s musically not so far from Shannon Wright, Shipping News, or Bitch Magnet.
